The Minimoog Model D App is a software transmutation of the world’s first portable synthesizer, the Minimoog Model D®. This app offers a wide range of possibilities for creative expression on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and Mac. With over 160 included presets, users can dive right in or explore the extensive controls to unlock endless creative potential.
One of the standout features of the Minimoog Model D App is its ability to play chords with up to four-note polyphony, a capability absent in its analog predecessor. It also includes an easy-to-use arpeggiator for rhythmic pattern creation, a real-time looping recorder with unlimited overdubbing capacity, a tempo-synchronizable stereo ping pong delay module, and the Bender - a wide-range stereo time modulation effect module. These added functions provide users with inspiring sound creation tools not found in the original hardware.
In addition to its powerful features, the Minimoog Model D App supports AUv3 Audio Unit extensions, allowing users to use multiple instances of this instrument simultaneously within compatible iOS apps that support AUv3. This opens up even more possibilities for integrating the Minimoog Model D into various music production workflows.
The Minimoog Model D has a rich history and has played a significant role in shaping electronic music. Introduced by Moog in 1970, it became the archetype for all electronic keyboards that followed. Artists like Bernie Worrell, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, and Dr. Dre have all used the Minimoog Model D to create iconic sounds that have contributed to their respective genres. The app is compatible with all 64-bit iOS devices and supports AUv3 Audio Unit Extensions, MPE Controller Support, Ableton Link, Inter-App Audio, Audiobus, 7 and 14-Bit MIDI, MIDI Program Change Support, and Bluetooth LE MIDI controllers. It also offers various options to share presets and recordings over AirDrop, Mail, or other iOS applications.
